Explore this traveling exhibition of fine binding, including Kitty Maryatt’s re-creation of the groundbreaking book La Prose du Transsibérien, originally produced in 1913 by painter Sonia Delaunay and poet Blaise Cendrars.

La Prose du Transsibérien pushed boundaries of book structure, painted imagery, and poetic expression. After much research, Kitty debuted a new edition in 2018, which faithfully incorporates techniques used in the original. At the same time, she commissioned fine bindings by notable design binders from around the world. Pages 109

This virtual exhibition features the work of 25 design binders, including Don Glaister, Monique Lallier, Midori Kunikata-Cockram, and Patricia Owen. The exhibition debuted in the San Francisco Center for the Book and has since traveled form Los Angeles to Boston and is slated to be on view next in London, England.

Shipping and Returns

Orders are shipped via USPS every Friday by 12pm and will arrive within 5–8 business days after processing time. Please note that all consignment work is non-refundable and retail returns are accepted within 10 days of sale. If you have any questions regarding your order, please email theshop@mnbookarts.org.

We are open Tuesday - Saturday 10am-5pm, Thursday 10am-7pm.

In Store Pick Up

Items are available for free in store pickup Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm! When placing your order, choose “Pick up” as your order option. Please add your name and a planned pick up day (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday) when prompted. Pick up will be held in our store located on the first floor of the Open Book Building at 1011 Washington Avenue S, Minneapolis, MN 55415. Please give the person at the counter the name on your order.

Gift Certificates

MCBA is unable to apply gift certificates to online shop purchases at the moment. Gift certificates purchased through our main website may be applied toward workshops, classes, and studio rentals. Please contact mcba@mnbookarts.org if you have any questions pertaining to gift certificates.
