Jocelyn Tsui (she/her) was born and raised in Hong Kong, where overwhelming density became deeply embedded in her maximalist configurations. Overall a multimedia artist - working with collage, sculpture, video, and installation - Tsui still prides herself as a printmaker first. The precision, repetition and sequencing of printmaking serves as the foundation of her work, but in the end, she aims to free herself from it and the obsession with control. While she maintains a separate research-based fine art practice, she continues to enjoy creating illustrations that vibrantly depict her beloved cityscapes and family memories (such as that in Have You Eaten Yet? and Family Flower Garden). She holds a BFA in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design, New York, where she still lives and works.
